Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of authentic assessment of cognitive aspects in Geography subjects at SMA Negeri 1 Harau. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with a sample of 1 Geography teacher and 35 students of class XI IPS at SMA Negeri 1 Harau. Data collection techniques using interviews, questionnaires and documentation. Quantitative data analysis technique is statistical-descriptive analysis. The results of this study at the cognitive level obtained by 80% with the Good category seen in the implementation of the level of knowledge, understanding, application, analysis, evaluation and creation. Then the implementation of authentic assessment of cognitive aspects was obtained by 46% with the Good category consisting of aspects of written tests, oral tests and assignments. Constraints found are the many aspects that must be assessed, student competence and inadequate time allocation, the number of students and individual teachers and efforts to overcome obstacles, namely by providing understanding and advice on the importance of authentic assessment for students, while for obstacles related to competence and teacher motivation can be increased by discussing with other teachers, reading additional references, browsing the internet and participating in KKG development and training to increase accuracy in authentic assessments.
